Annual Mark McGinly Scholarship Golf Classic, Dinner and Auction

To raise funds for the Scholarship Fund, Mark's family and friends committed to a major fundraiser — the Annual Mark R. McGinly Scholarship Golf Classic, Dinner and Auction.  The Scholarship Fund is now fully funded and the final golf classic was held on September 18, 2006 at the Westwood Country Club in Vienna, VA.

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

An absolutely wonderful young member of our community was lost on September 11, 2001.  Mark McGinly, a resident of Vienna and a product of the Vienna School and sports systems, was sitting at his desk in the World Trade Center when the terrorist attacks hit.   Mark was such an inspiration to so many that his parents have established the Mark McGinly Memorial Scholarship Fund in his name.

Every year, Northern Virginia high school seniors who best represent the characteristics so apparent in Mark and many others lost on September 11, 2001 will receive scholarships.  These scholarships are for seniors who are good students and good athletes.

The first Annual Mark McGinly Scholarship Golf Classic, Dinner and Auction took place Monday, April 29, 2002, at Westwood Country Club in Vienna.  To date, the Mark McGinly Scholarship Golf Classic has raised $365,000 for the Mark R. McGinly Memorial Scholarship.
